Chapter 1-Sunset Towers
Barney Northrupp sells apartments to many people. The list for apartments is: office-Dr Wexler, Lobby-Theodorakis Coffee Shop, 2C-Flora Baumbach, 2D-Theodorakis, 3C-Sydelle Pulaski, 3D-Wexler, 4C-Hoo, 4D J.J. Ford and 5-Shin Hoo's Restaurant. They were mothers, fathers and children. But there was one mistake!
Chapter 2-Ghosts or Worse
Turtle claims that she was not afraid of anything, so Sandy, Doug, Theo and Chris dare her to go in the Westing mansion. For every minute she stays in, they pay her two dollars. They do this because none of them like Turtle very much and would like to see her proven wrong for once.
Chapter 3-Tenants in and Out
We meet Mrs. Wexler and her spoiled daughter Angela. Angela is getting married to Dr. Denton Deere and Flora Baumbach is making her a dress. Mrs. Wexler doesn't like her daughter Turtle and Turtle hates her. Mrs. Crow is in Dr. Wexler's office getting her foot repaired. Mrs. Crow is wearing black and has very pale, white skin. Dr. Wexler notices that her shins are bruised. This is because Turtle kicked her. Mrs. Crow politely doesn't say that.
Chapter 4-The Corpse Found
Turtle goes into the Westing mansion because of the dare that Theo made with her. She goes in and finds Sam Westing's corpse in his four poster bed, with no blood or marks on him. Turtle left the silver cross that she had stolen from her mother. The next day a paper was published but what was strange is that nothing that turtle said was published. Turtle wins 25 dollars.
Chapter 5-Sixteen Heirs
Sixteen people are invited to Westing's burial.They are all heirs of Sam Westing. Madame Hoo and Jake Wexler are both absent and forfeit their chance to play in the Westing Game.
Chapter 6-The Westing Will
The lawyer is named Edgar Jennings Plum. They all receive a set of clues. The winner receives 200 million dollars. They will all be divided into pairs for the game
Chapter 7-The Westing Game
We find out what the pairs for the game are.
Chapter 8-The Paired Heirs
Everyone discusses their clues that night. Also there is a huge snowstorm and they can't get out, snowbound with a murderer. Grace and Mr. Hoo's clues are FRUITED PURPLE WAVES FOR SEA. Grace thinks the muderer might live in 4C because of their clues (for sea) but Mr. Hoo says no because he lives there!
Chapter 9-Lost and Found
Everyone posts their notes on the elevator wall. One of those notes is that J.J. Ford is having a party. Grace is being nice to Turtle because she wants to see her clues. Turtle does not let her. Everyone gets ready for the party.Angela and Syddle tried to dress as twins to make whoever is the twin admit, it but Mrs. Wexler makes her dress as something else.
Chapter 10-The Long Party
Ford had a party for them to discuss their clues but everyone asks Angela how Denton Deere is doing and she goes into the kitchen and cries because she realizes she would be nothing without him. JJ Ford asks Mrs. Wexler how she is related to the Westings and she lies.
Chapter 11-The Meeting
They had a meeting in the coffee shop for them to discuss their clues. They all ask questions and have discussions. Then Sydelle accuses grace of stealing her notes of the will. Grace said she couldn't read them anyway because they were in Polish! At the end Chris asks a question and nobody answered him because....
Chapter 12-The First Bomb
Tomato sauce explodes in the kitchen and everyone thinks it is a bomb. Turtle accused Angela of stealing her Mickey mouse clock, but then she sees the look in her eyes and and changes the subject. This shows that Angela may actually like Turtle.
Chapter 13-The Second Bomb
Everyone goes to Shin Hoo's restaurant because the coffee shop was closed. A real bomb goes off and Sydelle was hurt. Now she really needs crutches. The policeman says that it was a gas explosion. Angela defies her mother and goes to the hospital with Sydelle.
Chapter 14-Pairs Repaired
Turtle keeps investing the stock market. Grace reads Otis and Crow's clues. The people who have SHINING BROTHER clue are suspicious because there are brothers that are in the game like Theo and Chris Theo Theodorakis. Angela disguises herself and goes to check under the hoods of the cars. She finds nothing
Chapter 15-Fact and Gossip
In this chapter everything goes back to normal and Turtle was caught twice with a radio transmitter in her ear.Flora braids Turtles hair everyday. Sandy, Turtle, Doug and Theo discuss how Westing could've died. Jake, Grace and Mr. Hoo talk in the restaurant.
Chapter 16-The Third Bomb
Angela has her bridal shower. All of the guests were just people Mrs. Wexler knew. When she opened her present, it exploded and was a bomb. The only one hurt was Angela, who had a gash on her cheek. The police captain refuses to believe that it was a bomb, more like a childish prank. Mrs. Wexler thinks that Otis Amber did it. We find out that Angela was the bomber.
Chapter 17-Some Solutions
It was a rainy, gross day. The stock market had dropped 6 points. Everyone calls the bomb squad when they get a package. They called them again when Turtle ran through the lobby yelling BAUMbach, but someone thought she said Bomb! The partners find out what their words mean. The private investigator finds definitions for all of the Hoo family.
Chapter 18-The Trackers
Flora Baumbach braids turtles hair every day. Turtle still doesn't get that her daughter was disabled, even though Flora was trying to say that. The detective finds definitions for Flora Baumbach. Doug's partner gets angry because Doug is only focusing on the big track meet coming up. The detective finds definitions for Deere, Pulaski and Amber.
Chapter 19-Odd Relatives
Everyone goes back to school and Turtle goes to the principal's office for having headphones that she was talking to Flora through. Turtles excuse is that she has a toothache and only music will help. Shin Hoo's restaurant has a grand opening but everyone goes to the coffee shop. The detective finds definitions for all the Wexlers. J.J. Ford was looking at a newspaper and realized that Angela looks like Violet. Mrs. Wexler's real maiden name is Windkloppel. Also we find that Sam Westing made his first mistake by putting Sydelle Pulaski instead of Sybil Pulaski.
Chapter 20-Confessions
Turtle stays home from school to watch the stock market. Turtle sells when she sees that WWP has reached it's highest price in 15 years. Doug also stays home to follow Otis Amber. He follows Otis to a house. Two hours later he returned to Sunset Towers empty-handed. Theo goes to the hospital when his lab blew up and he got glass shards in his shoulder. The detective finds definitions for Chris and Theo Theodorakis.
Chapter 21-The Third Bomb
Theo asks turtle if he could borrow her bike, so he could follow Otis Amber. He finds Otis and Crow at a soup kitchen stirring a soup. He hated himself afterwards for spying on them. The detective finds a definition for Sandy Mcsouthers. We also learn that J.J. Ford lived in the westing house. She played chess with Sam Westing. He paid for her education. J.J. Ford thinks this is only because he needed a judge on his side. The fourth bomb blows up when Theo steps into the elevator. Turtle's braid was badly burned and Turtle admits to being the bomber. She was sent to court and admitted to it. She also thinks that Sam Westing might be alive and the body in the coffin was fake. Syddle and Angela combine clues with others and find out this: GOOD HOOD FROM SPACIOUS PLAIN GRAINS ON WITH BEAUTIFUL WAVES GRACE THY PURPLE MOUNTAIN MAJESTIES.
Chapter 22-Losers, Winners
Turtle confesses to the bombing by posting a note in the elevator saying she was sorry. Doug wins the track meet against other colleges. He says he owes it all to his dad. Sandy thinks that the Otis is not so dumb after and is really Sam Westing. Crow tells Otis that she thinks that she is in danger.
Chapter 23-Strange Answers
Turtle gets her hair cut because her braid was burned from the bomb and everyone says she looks nice except for theo. Mrs. Wexler shows up for the meeting drunk and everyone wins 10,000 dollars. Everyone says their answers and the winner was......(see next chapter)
Chapter 24-Wrong All Wrong
Nobody won! The partnerships were canceled and they were all put in a room together. The lawyer who did the reading gave them one last hint: its not what you have, its what you don't have. They all find out that the missing words were ber, the, erica and crow. Berthe Erica Crow! Sandy Mcsouthers chokes on a poisoned drink. Crow answers correctly her name and gives half of it to Otis to give to the soup kitchen, and half to Angela.
Chapter 25-Westing's Wake
Crow goes to jail, because Sam Westing sacrificed her. Sandy was a good friend of Turtle. They can still win. At the end of the chapter Turtle calls forth her first witness
Chapter 26-Turtle's Trial
Turtle has a trial. She calls forth Chris Theodorakis as her witness. He claims he saw somebody limping from the Westing House when he was birdwatching. That person was Dr. Sikes who is Otis Amber. Otis was hired by Sam Westing to keep an eye on Crow. We find out that madam Hoo was the burglar, and she gives all the stuff back. Also Sam Westing was in a car crash and had plastic surgery; he is really Sandy Mcsouthers!
Chapter 27-A Happy Fourth
They release crow from jail because she was innocent. No one wins because Sam Westing had tricked all of them. They all watch the firework show and at the end, the westing mansion burns to the ground.
Chapter 28-And Then...
Crow and Otis get married and the hoos open up a foot eze store. Sydelle is dating the president of schultz sausages and Grace Wexler owns a sports bar called Hoo's on first. Turtle gets really into the stock market.
Chapter 29
5 years later the Hoo's buy a lakefront house and all the heirs go there to celebrate Doug's olympic gold medal win. Turtle invests in the stock market. Turtle also beats Sandy in chess for the first time.
Chapter 30-The end?
Sydelle marries Conrad Schultz and Crow and Otis both die. Sydelle moved to Hawaii. Chris and his wife Shirley teach ornithology at the university. Denton Deere and Angela get married and have a daughter named Alice. At the end Sandy Mcsouthers, Julian Eastman, Barney Northrup and Sam Westing (who are all the same people)
